The most common weak argument against abortion is: “you are killing a baby”. What is being aborted is not a baby. Instead, an abortion in the first trimester is eliminating a group of cells and tissue from the uterus. A fetus in the womb cannot think, breathe, feel or do anything on its own. There are hundreds of explanations as to why women need abortions. The long list includes: she was a victim of rape/incest, she is not ready or too young for a child, she is financially incapable of having a baby, the fetus has a health problem, the woman has a health problem, she wants to avoid being a single parent, etc. The social aspect to these problems is not frivolous, but very serious. The only way to understand these reasons is to be in a woman’s shoes. They are legitimate reasons and cannot be solved in most cases. To think otherwise is incredibly ignorant.

Pro-choice defenders take sympathies to this woman while she then gets called a murderer by pro-life supporters. Abortions sometimes results in the woman being harassed because of the choice she has made about her own body. Pro-choice supports the girl that was too young to lose her virginity and becomes pregnant because she wasn’t fully aware of the consequences of her actions. The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she’d be financially incapable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the traumatizing emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the fetus. Pro-choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. The results of the experience for this girl would develop a maturity and evolution, rather than a state of repression.

Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is immoral and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is the unnatural termination of a pregnancy by killing (at least) one human fetus. These pro-life believers do not support the idea of induced abortion and believe it should be illegal. Therefore, the unavoidable conclusion is that abortion deliberately and forcibly puts to death a human being. Again, this definition is uncontested. Pro-choice believers support the right to privacy and the idea women should have the choice to do what she pleases with her own body. As an example; a woman is raped by a man and becomes pregnant with his child. She decides she doesn’t want to keep the baby; she has an abortion because the idea of raising a child of her rapist is too painful for her to cope with.
